The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has observed, for the first time, a high-mass, di-lepton peak in proton-collision data at 7 TeV, collected between the start of collisions on 30th March 2010 and 30th June 2011. This observation hints at long-awaited signs of new physics from the LHC.
