Dear Simon, Kurt, Thanks for the recent offer II 18567 / 218712 which is now very close to our final needs. May I request a slightly revised offer based on this one with the changes described below. The main change is to revert to the curved layout with triangular insets instead of the large corner pieces. The number of desks is still 22, the dimensions of the desk is unchanged and the total width and length of the whole layout is unchanged. I enclose the revised CMS Centre floor plan (PDF). Apologies that we do not have CAD format. The main features are: 1) 22 computing consoles arranged in two horseshoe-shaped arcs 2) 12 "in-fill" triangles 3) 3 central tables. Please ensure that all the comments below on each item are explicitly taken into account including the notes (a-i). With the curved layout and small changes elsewhere I think the final cost should be around 150 kSF. I would hope to receive the new offer next week (week of 30th July) so that we may then proceed to prepare and order with the CERN Finance Department. Please do not hesitate to call me (+41 76 487 4819) if you should require any further clarifications. With many thanks and kind regards, -- Lucas Comments on offer II 18567 / 218712 (item by item): -------------------------------------------------- * 1.01 3603.01 OK * 1.02 3603.11.11s OK. This piece should be closed to avoid cold air draughts from the technical area to the feet of the user. A ventillation slot is needed in the rear panels (acoustic doors) - see below. * 1.03 3605.11 OK * 1.04 3603.31.15 OK. Please specify the finish as for the CERN CCC. This includes the wood effect and the linoleum inlay. * 1.05 3603.47 OK. * 1.06 3605.31 OK. Please check quantity required with new curved layout. * 1.07 3606.01.2 OK * 1.08 9999s As I requested previously, please quote 2 options for the rear doors of console: option.1 (fibre-glass) acoustic material as for CCC option.2 simpler (=cheaper) panel covered in same colour fabric * 1.09 7708.15.0 OK * 1.10 7707.61.1 Change quantity to 44 * 1.11 8883.11s OK * 1.12 9999s Change quantity to 10 * 1.13 2013.34.15s Replace corner desk units with triangular filler pieces (see plan). As e.g. offer 17305 / 218712 item 1.16 The filler pieces do not have linoleum inlays. * 2.01 3455.10.0 Change quantity to 66 * 2.02 3455.13.0 Change quantity to 66 * 2.03 3455.20.0 Change quantity to 110 (5 screens per desk * 22 desks) * 2.03 3455.31.0 Change quantity to 110 * 3 TASK LIGHTING OK. * 4 CONFERENCE TABLES The conference tables should be the same wood finish as the consoles but they do *not* have a linoleum inlay. Please include 4 to 6 power sockets mounted in centre of each table depending on the units you have *in this order of preference* - 1 strip of 6 sockets (most preferred) - 1 strip of 5 sockets - 1 strip of 4 sockets - 2 strip of 3 sockets each - 2 strip of 2 sockets each - 4 individual sockets (least preferred) Please include a hole / slot in the middle of the table large enough for 6 network cables to pass through to the desk top. Notes: ------ a) Console Layout: The dimensions are shown in the attached drawing. It is important that the consoles do not extend further outwards than shown here. They may extend slightly inwards (e.g. if the width proposed is slightly greater than requested). b) Dimensions of consoles: The consoles should be 1.6 m wide. The depth of the worktop below the desk (leg room) should be 70 cm. The PC cabinet should be about 40cm deep. The surface should be 72cm from the floor. c) Triangle in-fill pieces should be sized identically and conform with the maximum dimensions of the two horseshoes: 11.3m x 8.2m and 4.9m x 8.2m. d) Console model: These should be basic units with a single piece desktop (Supervision model U1 if I recall correctly). e) Material for consoles: Please use the same materials, finish and colours as for the CERN Control Centre (CCC) - see note s) below. f) Front edge of console/table work surfaces: these should be significantly curved with a radius of approximately 10mm (minimum 6mm). g) Vents in PC cabinet: As we discussed there should be ventilation slots above the PC cabinet as usual and there should be a horizontal gap at floor level in the PC cabinet rear panel to allow air to be drawn in by convection. (The fan-coil units are around the edges of the room). For the acoustic back panels please include a ventillation slot of about 0.05 m2 per console close to ground level. If it is easy (same cost) please make it about 10 cm from ground level to avoid dust entering the consoles. h) Access to PCs in cabinet: Should be through doors at the front, under the desk top. >>> These doors should not permit any air to pass from the PC cabinet or rear of the console onto the operators feet. i) Conference Tables These should be rectangular with slightly rounded corners (radius of curvature about 20cm). They should be finished in the same way as the consoles. A linoleum inset is NOT required. They need a means to feed power and network cables from the floor to the surface of the table. -------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Lucas TAYLOR Lucas.Taylor@cern.ch http://lucas.cern.ch Tel: +41 22 7671561 (office) +41 76 4874819 (mobile) CERN / PH, CH-1211, Geneve 23, Suisse --------------------------------------------------------
